City Museum Design - St. Louis, MO

The City Museum in St. Louis, Missouri lacks the extraordinary entrance they could have on the east side of the existing building.  They want people to be able to enter the museum easily  without having to worry about crossing traffic. Due to the amount of old buildings in the area, each of which consist of a basic square shape, I decided to design a new museum entrance with a different style.  The curvature of the roof allows a transparent view through the roof, and it would also draw people’s attention to the site.  I also designed the walls and bridges with abstract reflective materials, which would allow visitors to interact with the design of the building as they make their way to enter the museum.

Section Model

A section model was made instead of a full model so it could show more detail of the interior spaces.  I designed a bus stop to go through the middle of the building, so the model was cut where the bus route travels through the building.
